Change of Location

Due to the lack of success in Brighton, because of the weather, we have now had to change our location.

We have decided to locate some of our music video in Camden, London. Therefore, we have a range of different shots we can take. For example, the outside of shops, Camden market and the tube station.

Also, there is the authorised graffiti tunnel behind of Waterloo station which we can take some creative shots. Moreover, we will buy a travel card which will allow us to travel around London on the tube if we have any other ideas of locations.

Genre Characteristics

Below are two examples of music videos from our chosen music genre, which is of course ska. These videos have common traits. The performers are all male, if there is ever a female in a ska music video then they are usually being objectified. There is often a theme of narcotics and or alcohol consumption. The seaside also seems to be a popular setting for ska videos.

This is a screenshot from the specials music video, A Message To You Rudy. This video features all male performers. As you can see the band is dressed in genre typical clothing.

This is a screenshot Bad Manners music video, Walking In The Sunshine. As you can see it shows some of the characteristics i previously described. The performers are all male and they are at the seaside.

Final Design for Digipack Back Cover

This is the final design for the back cover of our digipack. We decided to use the two tone man to indicate the main artist sleeping and the bubble above his head, which is his dreaming bubble, contains the names of all of the songs in the album. The window and light room represents that it is during the day and therefore links to the name of the album 'sleep all day'. The checkered border is a convention often used by Ska artists on their album covers or magazine adverts, therefore we have used this to fit in with the genre.

Work In Progress

This lesson we decided to attempt some green screening for our music video. This way we can experiment with shot types and see what creativity we can inject into our footage.
